Chapel Hill Singles Event - Alliance of Minority Business Students 1st Annual Diversity Conference
Venue: Chapel Hill,   Time:From: 2018-12-07 15:00:00 To 2018-12-07 22:00:00
“Thinking Independently Together,” this year’s theme, is centered on how under-represented minorities (URMs) have leveraged Coaches, Mentors and Sponsors in their organizations in order to achieve career success in the face of adversity across major industries. AMBS is a student-run organization providing the URMs of UNC Kenan-Flagler with opportunities for career development, networking opportunities, and community involvement in preparation for their post-MBA journeys.
We are proud to announce our keynote speaker: Dr. Larry Drake! Dr. Lawrence Drake II, (BA '77, MBA '90, PhD ‘14), President and CEO at LEADership, Education and Development Program will give the keynote address. He is the former President of the Nigeria/Equatorial Africa Division of the Coca-Cola Company. Subsequently Dr. Drake has served as the CEO of Haven Media Group, Hope 360 Inc., and is an official member of the Forbes Coaches Council, to mention just a few of his accomplishments.
We will have two panel sessions: “Coach, Mentor and Sponsor: How to find each in your organization” and “Becoming an Inclusive Leader Post MBA”. Our panels will feature amazing individuals such as D. Keith Pigues who is the founder and CEO of Luminas Strategy, a graduate of Kenan-Flagler Business School and on the board of advisors for the Frank Hawkins Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise.
The mission of AMBS is to serve our Kenan-Flagler community in three main avenues. Our primary goal is to recruit more incredibly talented under-represented minorities to enrich the Kenan-Flagler environment. We promote mentorship and guidance for URMs in the MBA program and our affiliate under graduate program. We also aim to educate our allies and colleagues on the importance of diversity and intersectionality as we progress through the ranks of business leadership.
